Welcome all! We hope this St. Andrews Anglican Church site will help you know more about us, in your process of discerning where God is leading you on your journey.

WHO WE ARE: There is a genuine sense of community and inclusion at St. Andrew's; the strength of our parish is our people.

WHAT WE DO: There are two faces to any church: the worship services, where we turn to God, and service and outreach, where we turn to each other and to the community.

WHERE WE ARE: St. Andrew's Anglican Church is located in Trail, BC.

WHY WE ARE: the most basic question of all: WHY are we? What is the ultimate reason behind our church community? Read some thoughts on "why", including a sermon from the Archbishop of Canterbury, on our Why page.

THE GOOD STUFF: Our church community is a family, and no family is serious ALL the time!

Beginnings

Reverend Henry Irwin, a pioneer missionary in British Columbia, conducted his first services in the booming mining camp of Rossland on February 2, 1896.  A week later the Reverend Irwin held the first service at Trail Creek Landing (later known as Trail) in the Topping and Hanna Opera House.  As more families arrived, funds were collected to found a church.  The Rossland parish became the Parish of St. George, while the Trail parish became the Parish of St. Andrew.

Many changes have taken place since those humble beginnings.  A new church was built in Trail in 1955.  In 1969 St. George's Church was destroyed by fire; after several years of using the facilities of St. Andrew's United Church in Rossland, the Parish of St. George decided to unite with the Parish of St. Andrew, and the new Parish of St. Andrew and St. George was formed in 1982.  (Read more about our church's history.)
